Seamans rest backpackers

There are so many cool builings to draw in Durban. This one is in what used to be know as point rd now Mahatma Gandhi rd. Its pretty run down now but Im sure it has a long history, when it was actually a seafarers inn.
I've always loved tractors and diggers, there is something so cool about controlling big hydraulic arms and picking up rubble. I dont know why, I just like it.

I Painted this a little while ago. The face is Johnny cash. I used cheap kids watercolours, I'm surprised I got the colour i did from the paint.

Moleskine sketches

Durban City hall
Kerry not looking too chuffed
These are from my pocket size moleskine water-colour pad. I carry it around in my car and sometimes do quick sketches when I get a minute.
I'll probably get hijacked sketching in my car one day.

Durban country club

Our local country club. A beautiful building that inspired me. I am hoping to paint it again soon.

My first watercolour

This my first watercolour painting. Looking at it now the background is really infantile. I am working on toning down the colours now to get a truer wc feel.

Hello

I guess there is no better way to start that a good old self portrait. This is me. Not a perfect representation but I think it captures a similar likeness. I have been into sketching with pen and pencil all my life and have recently taken up watercolors. I am just starting to learn about how to use suggestion to convey form.So much to learn.
